Break Weekend Is Coming

Break Weekend is the best weekend of the year, and this year is going to be the biggest and best one we’ve ever done. We’re excited for all that God has been doing in our student ministry as we have seen growth not only in numbers, but in depth in the work that God is doing in teenagers. Break Weekend is a weekend we get to experience all of that and more. We spend the weekend worshipping together, building relationships with our small groups, and competing against one another and playing games together in anyway we can find. This is a great chance for new students to get plugged in and students to take big leaps in their faith. If you have other stuff going on that weekend and need to miss part of Break Weekend, we absolutely understand, but you’re going to want your student involved in as much of it as possible.
New Series at Ignite - The Hurry and The Harm

This semester as we lead up to Break Weekend we’re looking at all the ways that hurry, busyness, and the overwhelming weight of our schedules can keep us from experiencing the life Jesus has for you. In a world where the next generation is becoming increasingly more anxious, calendars are filling up by the day, and we eat dinner on the dash of our car, we want a live a life that is purposeful, sees people, and experiences Jesus. Make sure your student joins us at Ignite on Wednesdays!
This Month’s Resource - “I think my kid might be depressed.”
It’s the winter, and with longer nights and less sun, seasonal depression is often creeping right around the corner. On top of that, emergening generations report that they experience more anxiety and depression than previous generations. While there’s plenty of debate around the reasoning, it’s helpful as a parent to know how to have that conversation. Take 8 minutes and listen to this quick podcast from Axis Resources to think about how you might talk with your teenager during difficult emotional seasons.
“I need some help! My son is struggling to make friends at his new school and is running to video games. It’s hard to get him to share and open up. He’s not eating a lot, I think he might be depressed. What should I do?” – Justin

Letter from the staff
Parents,
2025 was one of the most incredible years of ministry God has ever had the grace to let me be a part of. I’ve never seen 100+ students get baptized in the same year. I’ve never seen student worship over double in size, I’ve never seen a our ministry leader team double in size and I’ve never seen students lean in each week like they did at Ignite this past year. I’m prayerful and hopeful that we will see God do even greater things this year.
It is not often that I get to share those hopes and dreams with you as parents, but so you’ve heard it from me, this year I am looking forward to all the gyms, fields, concerts, and showings I’ll get to be on to cheer on your student. I can’t always make everything but as a staff we do our best to be at as much as possible because we are genuinely big fans of your kid. We want to know them and we want to know their friends because we believe Jesus loves them even more than we ever could.
At Ignite, I’m confident each week your student will be invited to fall more in love with Jesus. Each week we get to be a part of the best worship, and as we start the new year my hope is to help your student find rest in Jesus, and post-Break Weekend to have the tools to build a lasting faith. When I spend time with students they often feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped for the long haul. I pray a lot of things for them, but I pray most frequently that they will be equipped to walk with Jesus for a lifetime.
But, I genuinely believe that the power of what we do as a church, and certainly what we do on Wednesday nights is not just in the content but in the people. I pray your student invests deeply into their small group this semester or maybe goes for the first time. There is no version of walking with Jesus and experiencing his grace without being deeply invested in other believers and inviting them to invest in us. Even if they’ve struggled in small group, please reach out so we can do our best to take steps to find a great fit for them. The power in what we do is found primarily in Jesus and secondarily in community. Along with this, we are taking steps this year to better equip parents for the tough times, and to equip students and ministry leaders the best way possible to know and follow Jesus. Be on the lookout this semester for what that could look like.
Lastly, we have really incredible dreams for what Break Weekend and camps will look like. I encourage you to have your student and their friends be a part. I am not a Student Pastor that invites them along for numbers or just to play a few games. I really believe these events become milestone moments in the lives of teenagers to help them fall more in love with Jesus. Students give their lives to Jesus at camp, get called to ministry at camp, find themselves more committed to their walk at camps, and over and over and over again I see God doing a work.
Each day I wake up excited to help your student take a step, to meet their friends and invite them along, and feel more passionately that Jesus has called us to reach every corner of Wise and Parker County that we can. Thank you for being a part of that.
